UPPER BANN CANDIDATE BERNADETTE O'HAGAN
Bernadette O'Hagan is a native of Lurgan. A Mother of six and Grandmother to nine, Bernadette is a well known figure in the Upper Bann area. She has been involved in politics for over thirty years and was a founding member of the Civil Rights Association in Lurgan in 1968.
When the prison protests began Bernadette was again to the fore in the Anti-H Blocks campaign and the campaign in support of the Hunger Strikers. having had two sons in the H-Blocks for long periods Bernadette had first hand knowledge of prisoners issues.
Throughtout all her years in politics Bernadette has championed the republican cause and has travelled extensively all over Ireland, England and the USA to highlight the Sinn Fein analysis to international audiences.
Bernadette O Hagan has been chosen as the Sinn Fein candidate in the Upper Bann constituency in the forthcoming Westminster general election.

Sinn Fein's Bernadette O'Hagan has the difficult task here of running against UUP leader David Trimble who seems unassailable. Sinn Fein won over 12% of the vote here in 1996 and took a forum seat, surprising many.
