Quinn challenged to justify `right-wing SF' accusation

Sinn Fein has challenged Labour Party leader Ruairi Quinn to publicly justify his claim that its politics are right wing.

Mr Quinn made his claim when asked if Labour would enter a coalition government with Sinn Fein after the next general election in the 26 Counties.

South Dublin County Councillor Seán Crowe, a member of Sinn Fein's ruling Ard Chomhairle, said:

``I challenge Ruairi Quinn to come out and publicly specify exactly where and why he thinks Sinn Fein's politics are right wing. The Labour leader should spell it out rather than hide behind sweeping and unsubstantiated generalisations.''

Councillor Crowe added:

``I am confident that when people compare our policies and our track record, Sinn Fein will come out streets ahead of a Labour leadership which has not served its supporters well on socially progressive issues and grassroots activity at community level.''
