Sinn Fein respond to Criminal Justice Review

In an initial response to the findings of the Criminal Justice Review Sinn Fein Assembly member for North Belfast Gerry Kelly said:

``We intend to carefully study the report and all its recommendations. In our submission to the Review we set out in detail our views on what is required. What is needed is real, substantive and immediate change throughout the criminal justice system.

``There needs to be a root and branch reform of the entire judicial system which can guarantee a fair and impartial system of justice that commands the support and confidence of all parts of the community and which conforms to the highest standards of international human rights.

``Nationalists and republicans will judge the report on its ability to deliver the sort of change that is clearly required.''ENDS
