Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams welcomes IRA announcement

Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams has welcomed this morning's (Monday's) announcement by the IRA.

The West Belfast MP said:

``This unprecedented initiative by the IRA is both courageous and imaginative.

``Everyone who wants the peace process to work will welcome this significant development.

``There is a responsibility on everyone, but especially the British Government, to fully implement the commitments made in the Good Friday Agreement and at Hillsborough.''
