Sinn Fein elected to vice-chair of Cavan County Council

Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams has described the election of Sinn Fein Councillor Charlie Boylan to the vice-chair of Cavan County Council as ``another achievement in Sinn Fein's rise as a radical political alternative throughout Ireland''.

Councillor Boylan's success on the 25-seat local authority follows several other Sinn Fein achievements in the past weeks which saw the party take the mayoralties of Derry City and Sligo, and the chairs of Strabane District Council, Monaghan County Council and Leitrim County Council.

Mr Adams said that congratulations are due to all the people working for and supporting Sinn Fein in Cavan. He said:

``Charlie Boylan's election is a recognition of the contribution Cavan Sinn Fein makes to civic life and their hard work and commitment on behalf of the community.''
