South Armagh Assembly member tells Taoiseach - ``Demilitarisation is crucial''

Sinn Fein Newry and Armagh MLA Conor Murphy, speaking after a meeting with An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern in Dublin this afternoon, said:

``At today's meeting I raised the issue of the British Government's failure to honour its commitments under the Good Friday Agreement and, indeed, the promises they made at Hillsborough.

``On May 9th it was announced that, in my constituency, the British military installations at Cloghoue and Crossmaglen Square would be demolished. To date this has not happened.

``It is crucial for the success of the peace process that all sides honour their commitments. Unfortunately the British military establishment seem to be doing all in their power to stop the Good Friday Agreement from succeeding. This must not be allowed to happen.''
