Sunday Independent story on Castlerea prisoners: `a contrived story, a very thin spin on a clear-cut situation'
A Sinn Fein spokesperson described the Sunday Independent's front-page story linking the release of republican prisoners in Castlerea to the outcome of the next general election in the 26 Counties as ``a contrived story, a very thin spin on a clear-cut situation, namely that the prisoners should be released under the Good Friday Agreement and they should be released now''.
A spokesperson in Dublin said:
``This is such a contrived story, a very thin spin on a clear-cut situation.
``The remaining republican prisoners in Castlerea should have been released along with the other republican prisoners throughout the island under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement.
``Sinn Fein will continue to press for their immediate release, without any further delay.
``The republican prisoners should be released now.''
