Poll Results Encouraging

Sinn Fein Councillor Seán Crowe commenting on this evening's Opinion Poll for the Dublin South West constituency by TG4 said:

``Of course I am encouraged by the results which indicate a high level of support for Sinn Fein in the area.  But this is only a snapshot of public opinion and the poll results that Sinn Fein is working towards are the election results themselves.  I am confident that following that election Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin will not be the only Sinn Fein TD in Leinster House.

``It is clear that there is growing support for Sinn Fein both in Dublin South West and across the island.  Our election results in the local government elections in 1999 highlighted the potential that the party has in Dublin. And since that time we have also seen unprecedented numbers of young people joining the party.

``Sinn Fein is reaching more people through its work in the peace process and with our radical republican and labour politics.  In many areas we are the only party really active on the ground on the issues that matter to people. We have a proven track record of hard work and integrity, untainted by the scandals of corruption in planning among establishment politicians

``It is this record of delivering - locally and nationally - that will return electoral successes for Sinn Fein, north and south.''ENDS
