Death of Donall O Moráin

Sinn Fein's elected representatives in Kerry - Councillors Martin Ferris, Cathal Foley and Anthony Curtin - this evening expressed their sadness at the passing of Donall O Moráin, one of the founding members of Gael Linn and former editor of the Irish-language newspaper `Anois'.

Cllr. Martin Ferris said:

``Donall O Moráin who was born in An Corean, Co. Chiarrai, was a fearless champion of the Irish language and culture.  His work in the foundation of Gael Linn has undoubtedly strengthened the position of both language and culture for future generations.

``As we move further into the new millenium it is incumbent on us to support the objectives of Donall O Moráin in ensuring that the Irish language and culture will always have its rightful position in the new Ireland.  To use the old phrase from the Blasket Islands: ``Ni bheidh a leitheid ann aris - His likes will not be seen again.''CRIOCH
