Sinn Fein slam Government inaction on Fireworks

Sinn Fein South Dublin County Councillor Mark Daly today hit out at the government's failure to address the issue of fireworks. Another Halloween season is fast approaching and the sound of illegal, dangerous and unregulated fireworks can be heard throughout the city. Fireworks should be regulated legalised and sold by responsible dealers instead of off the back of a lorry or from under someone's coat.

Cllr Daly said:

``The government have to accept that fireworks could be an enjoyable part of the season if they were safe for people to use.  At the moment fireworks are putting the lives of young people at risk.  Regulating the distribution of fireworks and controlling the types of fireworks that are imported is the only measure that will ensure that our youth can enjoy Hallowed without danger.''
