Dublin City Council accepts bin charges Minister accused of bullying councillors

Sinn Fein councillors - who opposed the bin charges - accused Environment and Local Government Minister Noel Dempsey of ``bullying councillors and making a nonsense of local democracy''.

Sinn Fein Dublin City Councillor Nicky Kehoe said:

``Is it any wonder that people don't see the point in voting in elections when the Local Government Minister bullies elected councillors into bringing in the bin tax under threat of replacing them with a Government-appointed commissioner?''
