Sinn Fein slams Holy Cross threats

Sinn Fein Councillor Margaret McClenaghan has hit out at those responsible for threatening 'military action' against both parents and children at Holy Cross Primary School.

Cllr McClenaghan said:

``This morning a number of parents at Holy Cross Primary School were informed that both themselves and their children had been threatened with 'military action' by the Red Hand Defenders. Everybody knows that this threat, in reality, originated from the UDA - an organisation which has been responsible for hundreds of bomb and gun attacks on nationalists in North Belfast alone this year.

``This cowardly threat against schoolchildren and their parents must be lifted immediately. I would call upon anybody with influence within the unionist community to do all their power to have this threat lifted. I would also call upon nationalists to remain extremely vigilant.''
