North Belfast residents to meet Brian Cowen

Sinn Fein MLA Gerry Kelly will lead a delegation of people from North Belfast, who are being subjected to ongoing loyalist violence and intimidation, in a meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister Brian Cowen tomorrow.

The delegation will meet with Mr. Cowen in Iveagh House, St Stephens Green, Dublin 2 at 4pm tomorrow, Wednesday 25th July.

The delegation will include parents of children blockaded by loyalists and the RUC from attending Holy Cross primary school in Ardoyne and residents from interface areas in North Belfast whose homes have been subjected to ongoing petrol bomb and stoning attacks from Loyalists.

Speaking prior to the meeting Sinn Fein's Gerry Kelly said:

``We are going to Dublin to relate at first hand the traumatic experiences currently being endured by North Belfast nationalists at the hands of loyalists and the RUC.

``The Good Friday Agreement contains a commitment to ensure that people can live free from sectarian abuse and attack.

``We want to explore with Mr. Cowen the concerns of nationalists in north Belfast and how they can be speedily addressed.'' ENDS
