``FF leader should rule out McDaid for ministerial office - Ó Caoláin
Commenting on reports that the Fianna Fáil leader Bertie Ahern has ruled out Michael McDowell as Attorney General, Sinn Fein TD Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin said that he should also rule out Sports Minister Jim McDaid. The Sinn Fein TD said:
``The disgraceful comments by Minister McDaid on suicide victims and their families were far more serious than the Attorney General's remarks on Stadium Campus Ireland. Minister McDaid displayed gross insensitivity, appalling ignorance of the issue of suicide and a total lack of judgement. His comments ran counter to all the work being done to assist those suffering depression and in risk of suicide. This is a far bigger matter than a sports stadium. If Michael McDowell is ruled out by the Fianna Fail leader then so also should Jim McDaid.''
