Motor tax hike latest instalment in ``a budget a day'' - Ó Caoláin

Reacting to the 12% rise in motor tax, Sinn Fein Finance spokesperon Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin said the government was bringing in a budget a day. He said:

``On top of the VAT increases and the diesel excise rise this hike in motor tax will impose another burden on the lower paid. They will feel the effects of all these rises much more than higher earners.

``The Government now seems to be introducing a budget a day. It has pushed up the cost of living for ordinary citizens while cutting back on public services. This is also an insult to the Dáil where the announcement should have been made as part of the Budget.''
