Sinn Fein to Protest 30% Rise in Bin Charges
Dublin Sinn Fein will be holding a protest outside City Hall today, Monday the 9th as Dublin City Council holds their initial debate on the estimates for 2003. Sinn Fein Group Leader on City Council, Cllr Christy Burke, is hoping for a good turnout.
Cllr Burke said:
``The predictions we have consistently made throughout the campaign against the Bin Charges, are coming true. We predicted that as soon as the City Manager got it introduced the price would start to rise and already that seems to be the case.
``Our opposition to these Charges is as determined as ever and I hope a good number of people join us tonight in registering their disgust. Last week's Budget was part of the government's ongoing assault on the low-paid and these Bin Charges are another unacceptable feature of McCreevynomics.''
