Loyalist attack at North Belfast Catholic School

North Belfast Sinn Fein Councillor Eoin O Broin has called on loyalist and unionist politicians to stand up to those responsible for the current loyalist campaign being waged against Catholic schools in North Belfast and work to bring it to an end. This call comes after the latest incident this morning when 15 loyalists, one of whom was believed to be armed, smashed a number of cars in the car park of Our Lady of Mercy school in Ballyscillan.

Cllr O Broin said:

"This latest attack is clearly part of an orchestrated loyalist campaign aimed at driving nationalists from the North Belfast area.

"These attacks must stop. Education is a basic right and nobody has the right to attack schools or schoolchildren.

"I would call upon loyalist and unionist politicians to stand up to those responsible for this campaign of terror and enter into dialogue to resolve the issue of sectarianism in the North Belfast area."ENDS
