Ó Caoláin welcomes jobs boost for Co. Monaghan

Cavan/Monaghan Sinn Fein TD Caoimhghín Ó Caolain has welcomed the news that the US company Associated Packaging Enterprises is to locate a plant in Carrickmacross, with a potential start-up of 125 jobs. Deputy Ó Caoláin said:

"This is very positive news and provides a badly needed job creation boost to Co. Monaghan.

"I am very happy to have played my part both here in Ireland and in the United States in pressing the case for the Carrickmacross site. I thank my party colleague Cllr. Noel Keelan who first brought the concerns regarding the possible siting of this new plant elsewhere to my attention. The most important tribute of course should be paid to Tom Jones, Greaghwillan, Carrickmacross and to his family who have provided the opportunity for Associatied Packaging to locate in our county. But for their efforts this happy news would belong somewhere else.

"I look forward to the commencement of works and most importantly the official opening of the plant that will provide a significant new employment boost to South Monaghan. I hope that Associated Packaging's decision will encourage further potential inward investors to look at the Border counties, and especially Monaghan and Cavan, when considering locating in Ireland. These counties are strategically located, both in Ireland and in Europe and offer manufacturing concerns, both Irish and overseas, excellent opportunities and facilities."
