Sinn Fein targets key constituencies

Speaking after canvassing in County Monaghan, Sinn Fein Dáil leader Caoimghin Ó Caoláin said his party was targeting their key constituencies which had proved vital in defeating the Nice Treaty last year. He said:

"Constituencies which later elected Sinn Fein TD∂s had some of the highest "No" votes in the state. Supporter of Nice have been well aware of this and have attempted to roll back the "No" vote in these constituencies, however, our canvass returns indicate strong support for our campaign.

We will be targeting all our key constituencies in the coming week and we will be mounting a major effort to get the vote out on the 19th of October.

I am confident that we will defeat this Treaty a second time. It is a bad treaty which will create a two-tier EU and damage our sovereignty, neutrality and democracy. " ENDS
