Sinn Fein Health Minister to visit Cork

Sinn Fein Health Minister, Bairbre de Brún, will visit Cork tomorrow, 16th February. She will join the Sinn Fein candidate, Jonathan O Brien, in a tour of the Cork North Central Constituency.

Jonathan O Brien said: ``I welcome the visit of Bairbre de Brún to Cork. After the embarrassment caused to Cork people by the intemperate remarks of Noel O Flynn, I asked her to extend her visit to Kerry and come and see the many positive things being done in Cork.

The constituency I hope to represent includes areas, which have suffered from long term neglect by successive governments. In contrast people have organised themselves in community groups and tenants associations to improve their lives and those of their neighbours.

In the face of government neglect on the issue of immigration, NASC, the Irish Immigrant Support Organisation, was set up by a group of concerned Cork people. With little fanfare, even less funding, and much hard work it has developed into a model for the rest of the country.

I welcome the opportunity, to show Bairbre de Brún, the work being done by people to improve the lives of all those who live in Cork.''
