`Sinn Fein on verge of historic advance' - Ó Caoláin

In a final statement before the broadcast media moratorium on the General Election comes into effect Sinn Fein candidate Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin thanked the people of Cavan and Monaghan for what he described as the ``tremendous reception'' he received in all parts of the constituency. He said Sinn Fein was ``on the verge of an historic advance''. Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin said:

``I want to thank the people of Counties Cavan and Monaghan for the tremendous reception I and my election team have received in all parts of the constituency. The welcome has been warm and friendly. The response has been very positive in every part of the two counties and people have been appreciative of the work done and anxious to see more progress.

``I am confident that my record of work and that of the Sinn Fein team in Cos. Cavan and Monaghan will be endorsed on polling day. It will be a very, very interesting and historic General Election. Sinn Fein is on the verge of an historic advance in Dáil representation. I believe that I will be leading a team of new Sinn Fein TDs through the gates of Leinster House when the Dáil resumes on 6 June.

``The most important message today is to urge everyone to come out on Friday and cast their vote. I appeal to those entitled to vote to go to the polls and exercise their democratic franchise.''
