IFSC bosses must help flood victims

Cllr Nicky Kehoe of Dublin Central Sinn Fein has called on companies based in the IFSC to demonstrate their commitment to the community by helping out those in the area who have been badly affected by the recent flooding. Cllr Kehoe said that ``many local families are facing real financial hardship and a gesture by firms based in the IFSC would really help to cement bonds with the community''.

He said; ``We are constantly hearing rhetoric from big business about community involvement and ethical behavior, but often their words are not backed up with action. However, if the businesses in the IFSC helped the people of the neighbouring East Wall area it would be a gesture that would not be forgotten. The IFSC has been a tremendous success for the economy nationally but the local community has not really benefited from its presence to any great extent, a generous gesture could now be put right that wrong.
