IGB workers step up pressure

The striking workers at the Irish Glass Bottle plant, Ringsend will step up pressure on management to pay the full Labour Relations Court recommendation by calling on all workers, trade unions and their families to attend a march and rally tomorrow, Saturday July 20th. The march is demanding that Ardagh Plc pays the LRC recommendation of 5 weeks pay per year of service to each worker.

The march is called by the Strike Action Committee at the Ringsend plant. The march assembles at 12 noon Liberty Hall and march to GPO O'Connell Street where a rally will take place.

Speaking today from his constituency in Ringsend, Local Sinn Fein Representative Daithí Doolan commended the workers for accepting yesterday's deal, `it is a victory for the workers, a stepping stone towards full payment. Now the management must do the honurable thing and pay the outstanding amount. It is only greed that is preventing the management from fullfiling it's obligations to the workers. The government must now intervine and ensure that the men, women and their families receive the justice they deserve.'

Daithí Doolan will be addressing the rally tomorrow at 1:30pm GPO, O'Connell Street.
