IGB workers accept Labour Relations Court recommendation

Workers in the Irish Glass Bottle Factory in Ringsend have voted to accept a Labour Relations Court recommendation. Sinn Fein's Daithí Doolan was at the vote to offer support said:

``The workers voted in favour of allowing Ardagh Plc to remove all glass products and sell them to their customers. This sale should net ¤12 million which will be ringfenced and put into a trust fund for the workers. This money can only be accessed by the workers. The only reason Ardagh is agreeing to this deal with the workers is because the US Embassy put pressure on them to allow the glass mould machinery to be removed. This glass mould machinery is owned by an American company and is worth millions of dollars. The Ardagh management contacted the LRC to come up with a solution, a deal was struck and the workers voted 3:1 in favour of it. Once again the the workers and their Trade Unions have led the way towards a concilliatory settlement. The Ardagh management should take note of this and pay the 5 weeks wages per year worked as set out previously by the LRC.
