Doolan - Aid to Flood victims welcomed

Daithí Doolan today responding to the announcement by Martin Cullen, Min of State, of a package of 5 million Euros for the flood victims in Ringsend/Irishtown and East Wall.

``While I welcome this aid package I call on the government to ensure that nobody will be left out. More money, resources and assistance should be provided where and when necessary. Money should be fast tracked and must get to the people in these communities as a matter of urgency. Particularly when you consider that the City Council were well able to issue bills for `service charges' while many families were homeless due to flooding. People unable to move home is an absolute disgrace in this day and age.

``There is another flood warning for tommorrow and the work on the wall along the River Dodder to protect these people from a reenactment of the ordeal they suffered, has not even begun.
