Memo raises questions over Minister's role in Corrib planning decision

Sinn Fein TD Martin Ferris was ruled out of order in the Dáil today when he attempted to raise the role of former Minister Frank Fahey in the granting of planning permission to the Corrib Gas consortium.

Deputy Ferris drew the attention of the House to a memo in the Deputy s possession that would appear to indicate that the former Minister attempted to influence the planning process on Mayo County Council.

Deputy Ferris said: ``This is clearly an issue that requires urgent attention and I again call on the Government to allow time to discuss it. The memo raises serious questions over the former Minister s role in the Corrib Gas planning process that must be answer in the public interest.''
