An Post failed customers this Christmas

Meath Sinn Fein Councillor Joe Reilly today accused An Post of having a head in the sand attitude to the collapse in their delivery service in the run up to Christmas. He said that An Post had failed to advise customers of the huge backlog in deliverly services leaving some people penniless in the run up to Christmas as cheques were not delivered on time.

Cllr Reilly said:

The decision of An Post to more than half the number of Letter Forwarding Offices across the state earlier this year was a major contributor to the huge backlog  in deliveries this Christmas. The remaining three offices were clearly unable to deal with the volume of post in the system and the result is that hundreds of thousands of letters were not delivered.

An Post failed its cusomers this Christmas and caused huge inconvenience to many people.   They must now explain why this situation has arisen and how the difficulties being experienced due to the closure of five Letter Forwarding Offices are to be resolved in the interests of the customers and the staff of An Post. o
