Iarnród Éireann proposals defy logic and must be opposed

Sinn Fein TD for Dublin South West Seán Crowe has described proposals to charge for parking at selected DART stations as defying logic and completely at odds with the need to encourage people out of cars and onto public transport. Deputy Crowe said:

"Proposals from Iarnród Éireann that they are to charge for parking at selected DART stations across the city defies logic. At a time when there is growing congestion throughout Dublin, we need to be introducing measures to encourage people out of private cars and onto public transport and today's announcement will certainly not do that.

"Minister for Transport Seamus Brennan needs to intervene immediately and stop these proposals. The government need to reverse their current policy of under-funding public transport and trying to fill as much road space with private cars as possible and this should include extending park and ride services across the city.
