SF Assembly members to visit Leinster House

All 18 members of the Sinn Fein Assembly team in the Six Counties will visit Leinster House on 28th January, the day after the Dáil's resumption. The delegation will include party President Gerry Adams and Mid Ulster Assembly member Martin McGuinness MP. The visit will be hosted by Sinn Fein TD Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin.

The theme of the visit by the Assembly members is the all-Ireland dimension of the Good Friday Agreement including the establishment of a joint parliamentary forum between the Oireachtas and the Assembly (Strand Two, paragraph 18) and the need for representation from the Six Counties in the Oireachtas.

Announcing the visit Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin said:

``This visit will happen a week after the 80th anniversary of the First Dáil Eireann and it is appropriate therefore that the all-Ireland dimension of the Good Friday Agreement is being stressed. We need progress on the establishment of the parliamentary forum and on representation for the Six Counties in the Oireachtas.

``TD's and Senators will have the opportunity to discuss first hand with fellow elected representatives from our party the current state of the peace process and the best joint approaches on the way forward.''
