Sinn Fein welcomes Taoiseach's comments

Sinn Fein Chairperson Mitchel McLaughlin has welcomed the comments of An Taoiseach, John Bruton in calling for a new inquiry into the events of Bloody Sunday.

Mr. McLaughlin said:

``I endorse the call by An Taoiseach for the setting up of a new inquiry into the deaths on the streets of Derry on Bloody Sunday 1972. The Dublin government should now use all the diplomatic channels at its disposal to ensure that the British government ends its stonewalling and agrees to the setting up of an Independent International Public Inquiry into the tragic events of that day.''
