Ancram Accused

Sinn Fein Ard Chomhairle member Martin McGuinness has accused British Minister Michael Ancram of ``crying crocodile tears'' over the destruction of catholic schools following Drumcree last summer, and the continuing harassment of the Catholic congregation at Harryville.

Mr. McGuinness said:

``Michael Ancram cannot distance himself and his government from either the events of last summer or the continuing abuse of catholics going to mass at Harryville.

``It is the British government which has failed to confront the issue of orange marches over many decades. It was John Major who caved in to the Orange Order last summer. It is the RUC which is allowing loyalists to intimidate, threaten and injure catholics at Harryville and it is the British government which has failed to act on the North report and which is creating the climate for another summer of confrontation.''
