Oklahoma Claims - `Bad Hollywood script'

Mairead Keane, the head of Sinn Fein's Washington office, has dismissed as ``preposterous and rubbish'' claims that Irish republicans had any involvement in the bomb attack in Oklahoma.

Ms. Keane said: ``The claim that Sinn Fein provided the detonator for the Oklahoma bomb is nonsense. Any student of the Anglo-Irish conflict will treat as absurd the claims of an Iraqi/US neo-Nazi/White supremacist/ and Irish republican conspiracy.''

Note: The allegation is that it was Sinn Fein which provided the detonator. The lead prosecutor, Joseph Hartzier, ridiculed the Timothy McVeigh defence teams claims describing it as ``like a bad Hollywood script''.

Mr. Hartzier said: ``we are prepared to rebut McVeigh's pulp fiction with provable facts - to prove that there was no international terrorist coalition behind the murder in Oklahoma City, no prior warning, and no mastermind other than McVeigh and his co-defendant.''
