Sinn Fein Ard Chomhairle begin discussion on Agreement

The Sinn Fein Ard Chomhairle met yesterday. The Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams MP gave the Ard Chomhairle a report on the negotiations of last week. He stressed the need for unity and the maximum involvement of all activists in the taking of Sinn Fein's decision on the agreement at this crucial time in the peace process.

Mr. Adams said:

``The leadership of Sinn Fein will meet, deliberate and hold further discussions at every opportunity but it is the membership of Sinn Fein who will make the final decision.

``The Ard Chomhairle meeting adjourned yesterday evening and will meet again prior to the Sinn Fein Ard Fheis this weekend.

``In the meantime the Sinn Fein leadership is engaged in a countrywide series of briefings and discussions with members of the party.''

Commenting on the launch of Ian Paisley's No Campaign to the ``Trimble/Adams Agreement'' a Sinn Fein spokesperson said:

``Ian Paisley's campaign against the `Trimble/Adams Agreement' is pitiful. Sinn Fein has not signed up to the Agreement and are currently in the process of consulting with the membership.''
