LVF link to Nelson murder - reports of dubious origin

Sinn Fein spokesperson on policing and justice, Bairbre de Brun, has said that tonights reports linking the LVF to the murder of Human Rights solicitor Rosemary Nelson are of dubious origin.

Ms. de Brun said:

``Claims that the LVF may be linked to the murder of Rosemary Nelson will be treated by many people with deep suspicion. The reports are clearly of dubious origin.

``It has been a well known fact for some time that the LVF is a flag of convenience for the UDA.

``The public will also be alarmed to find out that to date no loyalist has been arrested or questioned in connection wtih the murder of Ms Nelson.

``All of this simply reinforces the need for an international and independent inquiry into the killing. Sinn Fein is calling on the British government to take the appropriate steps in establishing such an inquiry so we can finally hear the truth about the murder of Rosemary Nelson.''
