Adams urges caution and vigilance

Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams MP has revealed that ``over a dozen west Belfast people were told by the RUC at the weekend that loyalist death squads have their details''.

Mr. Adams said:

``There is a need for great caution and vigilance at this time. There have been consistent reports over recent months of loyalist death squads targeting republicans. This exercise by the RUC merely confirms what we have already known - there are no loyalist cessations and loyalists are killing and trying to kill people.''

Mr. Adams also raised the issue of collusion as a result of the weekend warnings.

``Several of those told by the RUC that their details are now in the possession of loyalists were arrested several months ago for the first and only time. That their details have already been passed to loyalists is further evidence of the collusion which facilitates the passing of information from within the RUC and British Army to loyalist death squads.''
