END RUC CURFEW
Sinn Fein Councillor Alex Maskey, who was arrested last night on his way to the Lower Ormeau Road, has called on the RUC to immediately lift their curfew off the people of the Lower Ormeau and withdraw their presence.
Cllr. Maskey said:
``The RUC should immediately end their occupation of the Lower Ormeau Road and allow the residents to go about their business unhindered.
``The Orange march has passed through the area and there is clearly no longer a need for the show of strength that the RUC have in place. The people of this area have now been under siege for eighteen hours and their lives have been seriously disrupted. The RUC should end this appalling situation forthwith.''
