McGuinness Calls for Support for Lurgan Nationalist Rights

Sinn Fein Mid Ulster MP Martin Mc Guinness has called on people to turn out in support of Nationalists rights this Sunday in Lurgan.

Mr McGuinness said:

`` The Nationalist people of Lurgan will once again attempt to seek entry to their own town centre on Sunday. The democratic right to peacefully march to the town centre has been consistently denied to them by the British Government'.

``Lurgan Nationalists seek no more or less than what has been afforded to others living in the town. They demand equality of treatment, and that means an end to discrimination and the denial of rights such as the refusal to march to the town centre.'

``Nationalists have been forced into second class citizenship in this state since its creation. Ther is a tide of change fast sweeping through our country. Nationalists are off their knees and are no longer going to accept the second class role''.

Martin McGuinness concluded:

``What is now needed is fundamental and radical change in both the mindset and deed of those who currently deny equality and justice to a section of our people. On Sunday Sinn Fein will be serving notice that the days of Unionist domination, discrimination, and the denial of Nationalist rights are over. I am calling on everyone to join us in serving that notice''

The march will leave Francis Street at 2.30 pm and than make its way to the town centre.''
