Sinn Fein President invited to visit Palestine

Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams MP today spoke to Palestinian Leader Yasser Arafat by telephone. The Palestinian leader has invited Mr. Adams to visit Palestine in the near future.

Mr. Adams is in Canada where he met with Prime Minister Chretien and Foreign Minister Lloyd Axworthy.

The telephone call between Mr. Adams and Mr. Arafat took place at 10am this morning. The two men discussed the struggle for justice in their respective countries and the centrality of self determination and democracy in securing a lasting peace settlement.
