Gerry Adams to Visit Latin America

Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams MP will visit Mexico City from November 12th - . He will be accompanied by Sinn Fein's representative to the United States, Rita O'Hare.

On November 12th he will open the exhibition, Hidden Truths Bloody Sunday 1972. This exhibition has been curated by Trisha Ziff in conjunction with the Bloody Sunday Trust and will take place at the Centro de la Imagen, a museum in the historical center of Mexico City devoted to photography.

On November 13th, Mr. Adams will deliver a lecture at Mexico's University Anáhuac del Sur, where he will also receive a peace prize, La Orden del Derecho, La Cultura y las Paz from La Academia Mexicana de Derecho Internacional. This prize has previously been awarded to Javier Perrez de Cueller and Dr. Boutros Boutros Ghali. Following this address Mr. Adams will host a press conference facilitated by the University at 11am.

While in Mexico, Mr. Adams will meet with Foreign Minister, Rosario Green and leader of the Opposition P.R.D. Party. He will also meet with the first democratically elected mayor of Mexico City, Cuahtémoc Cádenas Solózano.

Mr. Adams will also visit the San Patricio Monument and have an opportunity to meet with writers and intellectuals to bring them up to date on the peace process in Ireland.
