US President's commitment welcomed

Statement from Sinn Fein Assembly Member for north Belfast Gerry Kelly commenting on indications from the White House of President Clinton's continued commitment to the Irish Peace Process.

Mr. Kelly said:

``President Clinton's continued commitment and support for the Irish Peace Process is a firm indication that despite all of the difficulties and delays there is still widespread international good will and support for the implementation of the Good Friday Agreement.

``The review has already run well over its intended time frame and there is clearly very little time left. Sinn Fein understands that unionism has difficulties with a process which involves fundamental political change, but this is a common prect which if successful wil benefit all of our peoples.

``We cannot let this chance slip away. There is still a slight possibility that we can make this review success. Sinn Fein is determined to pursue this slight chance.''ENDS
