Adams deplores attack on Methodist Church

Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams has described the attack on Springfield Methodist Church last night as a ``deplorable act which nationalists living in that part of west Belfast reject outright''.

Mr. Adams who also criticised the sectarian attack on an Orange Hall over the weekend said:

``I would appeal for calm. Sectarian attacks, whether against Church property, of whatever denomination, Orange Halls, family homes or individuals are to be utterly deplored.

``This behaviour is irresponsible and unhelpful.

``This is a time for patience and constructive dialogue. Sinn Fein stands ready to engage in discussions with any group where such dialogue can help reduce tension and build confidence and trust.''
