RUC arrest Colin Duffy

Statement from Lurgan Sinn Fein Councillor, John O'Dowd, accusing the RUC of an orchestrated campaign of harassment against Colin Duffy following his arrest today.

Mr. O'Dowd said:

``Since Colin Duffy's release a few months ago the RUC have been involved in a campaign of harassment against him and his family. The latest incident occurred today when the RUC arrested him from his family home.

``The arrest follows an incident last night when a number of RUC men attacked Colin Duffy and some of his friends when they were leaving a bar in Lurgan. Mr. Duffy was celebrating the birth of his child and was returning home when a number of RUC men alighted from several cars and attacked him and his friends. Those injured included three women, one of whom has a suspected broken arm and another a broken finger. I am calling on the RUC to end their campaign and allow Mr. Duffy to carry on his daily life free from their attention.''
