Union will be on the Agenda for Blair meeting

Sinn Fein Party Chairperson Mitchel McLaughlin responding to news of the imminent meeting in London between Party Leader Gerry Adams MP and British Prime Minister Tony Blair said:

``We welcome the opportunity to meet Mr. Blair again.

``We intend raising with him those issues, specifically Britain's constitutional claim to this part of Ireland, which we believe lie at the heart of this conflict. It is our view that fundamental constitutional and political change is a necessary outcome of the process of negotiations.

``We will also focus on the urgent need for progress, both inside and outside the talks process, and the role and responsibility of the British government in ensuring that that occurs.

``In particular we will seek to examine the obstructionist tactical approach by the Unionists and how this can be overcome, as well as the continued domination of British policy by the securocrats - those whose militaristic mindset remains locked on the futile goal of victory.''
